Assignment 2 update

We are setting up our WordPress site. Having a problem with images, something about a parent directory. I have no clue how to fix it. I am still trying to work on my class blog also. I am adding more gadgets and content as fast as I can. This class is giving me the impetus to do what I have not been doing, and that is learning more about CMS. I had been looking at a program called Streetprint, an archival program, it is Open source but I could not get it to work on my website. The developers of the program are no longer supporting it and not doing any updates, so I think I will go with Drupal or Wordpress for my new project.

Assignment 2

Ready to get going on Assignment 2. Wordpress is really a versatile tool and I want to learn as much as possible about it. I feel like I have finally caught up in the class. I was under some illusion that it wasn't a Maymester class. So, I was a couple of days late getting started.

A wiki comparison

PBWiki is primarily directed at a commercial user. It does not have the full capability that PMWiki has. PB requires no installation while PM uses PHP language. It requires installation on a web server. PM can be set up to look and act like a website, but with universal editing features. It works like Wikipedia and can have different designs. Some skill is required in setting it up and this may be a problem for some. It also has a feature where it can be run from a USB drive.

PB, except for the basic, requires a monthly fee while PM is free, open source.

I am IN!

I have been given access to SGRL Wiki. How cool is that??

Response from SGRL

I have already had a response from SGRL. Access is only allowed to employees of the library.

More on SGRL

I have explored the SGRL site and found a PBwiki buried in the web site home page. The last entry was 2 months ago. I have requested an account this morning.
I am familar with PBWorks and I still have a PBWiki created in a previous class. http://portfolios.pbworks.com/
It was still called PBWiki then, but has since become a commercial, business-oriented Wiki.
